CFR Advanced – Instructor
The Cardiac First Response (Advanced) Instructor Training Program equips qualified practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach life-saving interventions in accordance with Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) standards. Combining two days of classroom learning with three supervised training sessions, the course blends theory, practical skills, and scenario-based learning to prepare instructors to effectively train others in recognising and responding to life-threatening emergencies using advanced basic life support techniques.

This course involves two classroom days followed by three supervised training sessions which include:
- Assisting an Instructor on Courses
- Being supervised by an instructor delivering of a course
- Completing Final Instructor Assessments.
Have an understanding of the Prehospital Emergence Care Council and an Approved Training Institute
Describe and carryout the role of an Instructor
Have an in-depth knowledge of the Cardiac First Response Course and be able to deliver this course as per the PHECC Education and Training Standards and Clinical Practice Guidelines
Train potential CFR-A candidates to:
- Recognise the signs of a life threatening emergency.
- Respond in an effective, safe and appropriate manner, to a life threatening emergency, utilising basic life support skills including airway and ventilation management.
Whould should attend this training:
a) The minimum age for entry to a CFR Advanced instructor course is 18.
b) Certification in CFR Advanced within the last 12 months.
c) Potential Instructors seeking access to a CFR Advanced instructor course are required possess the capacity to maintain competency in all the required CFR Advanced skills, prior to acceptance. The requirement is EMT, Paramedic or Advanced Paramedic for the prehospital setting.
