First Aid Response – Instructor
This First Aid Response (FAR) Instructor Training Program prepares participants to deliver high-quality first aid training in line with Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) standards. Combining two days of classroom learning with three supervised training sessions, it blends theory, practical skills, and reflective practice for real-world teaching. Through interactive lectures, hands-on demonstrations, realistic scenarios, and group discussions, participants will gain the expertise to train others in managing emergencies—both life-threatening and non-life-threatening—in a variety of settings.

This course involves two classroom days followed by three supervised training sessions which include:
- Assisting an Instructor on Courses
- Being supervised by an instructor delivering of a course
- Completing Final Instructor Assessments
Have an understanding of the Prehospital Emergence Care Council and an Approved Training Institute.
Describe and carryout the role of an Instructor.
Have an in-depth knowledge of the First Aid Response Course and be able to deliver this course as per the PHECC Education and Training Standards and Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Train potential FAR candidates to:
- Deal with life threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions in the pre-hospital environment until arrival of emergency medical services
- Provide First Aid Response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive
- Provide pre-hospital First Aid Response in a wide range of environments including home, recreational and workplace settings
- Display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations
Whould should this training:
a) The minimum age for entry to a FAR instructor course is 18.
b) Certification in First Aid Response or evidence of PHECC practitioner registration.
c) Valid CFR instructor certification and this must be maintained.
